Science Center Classics

Beloved interactive science experiments

Beloved interactive science experiments that delight every generation!

Science Center Classics brings together the most iconic, unforgettable hands-on physics and sensory exhibits from more than three decades of discovery. Ride a bicycle high across a wire, step inside a giant shimmering soap bubble, and test your reaction speeds against friends and family.

Exhibition Highlights

  • The iconic High-Wire Bicycle suspended six meters above the arena floor
  • Giant walk-in soap bubble cylinder that envelops visitors in shimmering film
  • Acoustic parabolic whisper dishes transmitting whispers over 30 meters
  • Rotating angular momentum platform demonstrating gyroscopic precession

Hands-on Discovery Stations

Timeless experiments that have inspired millions of visitors since 1989:

The High-Wire Bicycle

Pedal safely along a narrow steel cable high above the hall. A 120-kg counterweight keeps your center of mass reliably below the cable.

Giant Soap Bubble

Pull a circular hoop slowly upward from a specially formulated soapy solution to encase yourself in a dazzling cylindrical bubble film.

Parabolic Whisper Dishes

Speak into the focal ring of a concave dish and have your quiet whisper heard clearly by a friend across the hall.

Reaction Time Light Wall

Tap illuminated buttons as fast as they flash to measure your neural processing speed down to the millisecond.

Scientific Principles & Phenomena

Covers core classical physics: torque and center of mass equilibrium, acoustic reflection geometry, minimal surface tension geometry, and neuro-motor reaction pathways.

Every experiment isolates a fundamental law of physics. Why does a soap film form a perfect cylinder before closing into a sphere? Because liquid molecules naturally seek minimal surface area to reduce surface energy. Why can a whisper travel across a crowded hall between two parabolic reflectors? Because all parallel rays striking a parabola converge at its geometric focus.

Did you know?

The High-Wire Bicycle has carried over two million riders since 1989 with a 100% spotless safety record. Because physics lowers the center of mass well below the wire, tipping over is physically impossible!

Exhibit Highlights & History

These iconic exhibits have entertained and enlightened millions of visitors since Heureka opened its doors in 1989. Many were custom-designed in Heureka’s own prototyping workshop.
